The French Way is the most recognized route to Compostela, among other reasons, because it was an access that linked distant lands during the early years of the pilgrimages. The traces of that past that pilgrims find when they enter Galicia are most vividly reflected in the monasteries that surround the road. Sacred buildings that were the seed of larger populations and articulated economically and socially the interior of Galicia. The Pilgrims' Hostel of the monastery of La Magdalena is reunited with its original spirit; in fact, the entrance to the hostel is located on the Camino de Santiago. More integrated, impossible.

The Hostel opens its doors in a monastery built in the early twelfth century, almost at the same time as the town of Sarria and its history was always linked to the Camino de Santiago. We can still notice the Romanesque origin of its architecture, although throughout the 19th century the most important works of reform were undertaken, which left the Monastery of the Magdalena almost with the aspect that it has today.

One of the advantages for pilgrims of staying at this hostel is its proximity to the urban center of Sarria. The historic center of this well-known town of Lugo is just a few minutes away. It is located on Avenida de la Merced, just five minutes walk from the monumental area of Sarria, and less than ten minutes walk from the train station.
